A Hervey Bay man who was struggling to fall asleep made the decision to check his Weekday Windfall ticket and made the shocking discovery he was a millionaire.

A Hervey Bay man won big in a Weekly Windfall draw.

Struggling to sleep, a Hervey Bay man made the decision to check his Weekday Windfall ticket and discovered he had won $1 million.

He was the only division one winning entry nationwide in Weekday Windfall, drawn on October 18.

The man said he’d been “stressing” all weekend, unable to shake the disbelief that he was actually holding a winning ticket worth $1 million.

“Thank you very much,” he said.

“I kept thinking to myself, ‘Is it real? How do I receive the prize?’” he said.

“I couldn’t sleep in the wee hours of the morning and I decided to have a look at my Weekday Windfall ticket.

“I couldn’t believe it. I think I’ve looked at the ticket about 100 times.

“I woke my wife up shortly after that. It was 3.30am and she wasn’t having a bar of it. She didn’t believe it.

“I’m still in complete disbelief.”

With his bank account about to get a big boost, the excited man shared he had already developed plans for his prize.

“I’ll probably put it towards a new car and pay off the mortgage,” he revealed.

“I’d love to buy a large ute. One that I can put a caravan on.

“What a shock to the system.” His winning 5-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

It comes after a Gympie woman won the $1.2 million Gold Lotto jackpot on Saturday.

Holding one of the four division one winning entries for draw 4513 on October 19, she is now looking forward to cashing in on her astronomical $1,264,652.43 win from the 18-game QuickPick which was purchased through The Lott’s phone app.
