Roxie the Chihuahua crowned Fraser Coast’s cutest dog for 2024

The hunt for the Fraser Coast’s cutest dog is over and it’s time to find out which pooch was voted the favourite four-legged friend.

After hundreds of nominations from across the Fraser Coast, the region’s cutest dog can be revealed.

In a tightly fought contest, it was chihuahua Roxie owned by Keara Wade who emerged victorious.

The 18-month-old claimed eight per cent of the votes, which was two per cent more than runner-up Pete, a six-month-old cavalier king charles spaniel owned by Adele Fulton.

To complete the podium, it was a three-way tie between Kharli, Wendy Owen’s eight-month-old husky, Stella, Leila Steffen’s one-year-old cavoodle and Pickles, Makayla Dreghorn’s 14-week-old mini dachshund.

Mrs Wade said Roxie's victory was a “thrill”.

“Thank you to all the Chronicle readers for voting our dear Rosie as the cutest dog.”

The Wades’ hunt for Rosie took them more than six hours from their Maryborough home.

Mrs Wade said it was “worth it’ and from the first time meeting the pooch, the family knew it would come home with them.

Since coming back to their Maryborough home, Roxie has brought “love and happiness back to the family” who had previously been mourning the loss of their first dog, Peanut.

Mrs Wade says everyone who met Roxie “immediately falls in love” with her.

“We would not change anything about her … even if she does hog the bed and blanket all the time,” she said.
