Sawmill Rd, Dundowran Beach – The most expensive street on the Fraser Coast

From pools and ocean views to resort-style grounds, here are some of the region’s dream homes of 2024 in one of its most expensive streets, who owns them and what they paid.

A suburb that offers a relaxing lifestyle while still being an easy commute to the business district, Dundowran Beach on the Fraser Coast has exploded in popularity and price this decade.

Since January 2020, the average house price at Dundowran Beach has increased by more than $400,000 with about $970,000 needed to buy in the area, though some of the more pricey properties are well over $1 million.

Sawmill Rd is no exception, with five homes worth more than a million dollars on the road.

Here is the list of the ritzy houses that make up Sawmill Rd and who their owners are:

#1 Sawmill Rd

The street’s most expensive property belongs to Pauline Bernadette Kelly and John Nickolas Byron, who own properties in Torquay, Nikenbah and Maryborough.

A 1.1ha sprawling estate with six bedrooms, the pair bought the property for $1.75 million in December 2023 from Summer Manor Pty Ltd. The home is just minutes from the beach.

The second most valuable home on the street belongs to Graham Anthony Holmes and Patricia Karen Holmes.

The couple bought the property in October 2023 from Stephen Alexander Johnston and Kylieanne Codey for $1.4 million.

The five-bedroom, two-bathroom property which has previously been rented for a pricey $800 per week also has an in-ground pool.

They own property in Jimboomba and Mundoolun along with the 2019sq m house.

#3 Sawmill Rd

The bronze medal has been awarded to Kurt Erwin Fassler for this property.

Bought for $1.2 million in 2022 from David Neil Cadman the 4250sq m property is described as a “practical and functionally designed five-bedroom home which brings the beautiful Hervey Bay lifestyle to your front door”.

Previous owners Kathie Strathy and David Cadman made almost a $700,000 profit when they sold the property after purchasing it for $530,000 in 2017.

#4 Sawmill Rd

They bought the “spacious and highly desirable property” for $1.15 million from Heatley residents Michael and Allison Lee.

Fleur Keys of Ray Edward Real Estate was the real estate agent responsible for the property’s sale.

Along with this property, the Mason’s own a one-storey house in Alice St, Maryborough which they purchased in October 2021, for $310,000.

#5 Sawmill Rd

Owned by Stefanie Gubby, who bought the 4000sq m estate in 2016, this home in Sawmill Rd is on the market and there are expectations the property could sell well beyond the million-dollar mark when it goes to auction on February 24, 2024.

The property valuation is currently $1.36 million according to Core Logic which they give in “high confidence”.

Built in 1998, the property consists of five bedrooms and four bathrooms and “offers a timeless blend of architectural elegance and modern functionality set on a sprawling acre of perfectly manicured lawns and gardens”.

Buyers with a green thumb will be fans of the established fruit trees on the property alongside a vegetable patch.

Chai Sainsbury of The Onsite Manager has been put in charge of getting the sale through.

On the beachfront, the 3418sq m property offers direct access to Dundowran Beach and the listing says “you will feel spoilt at this spacious executive residence”.

The Feneck have a property empire across the North Coast region owning no less than five properties across Elliot Heads, Maroochydore, Buderim and Dundowran Beach.

The four bedroom, two-bathroom house is set on 2,375 m² which includes a pool and a games room.

Mrs Daniel’s farewell message to the property her and her late husband Graeme lived at for 16 years was:

“I hope that the new owners will appreciate and love this magical environment as much as my late husband Graeme and I did. Looking out though the kitchen windows every morning and seeing the sun filtering though the paperbarks, watching the birds at the birdbaths in the afternoon and being a custodian of this beautiful old remnant of Dundowran Beach vine scrub has been an honour.”

They have owned the property since October 2016 after buying it off Catherine Wood for $515,000.

The five bedroom, three bathroom house is valued at $1.1 million by Core Logic.

#14 Sawmill Rd

The Bithells bought it for $499,000 off Neil and Carol Harvey and have listed it for rent for $450 per week.

The listing says “this property has plenty to offer” including a huge kitchen, separate loungeroom, master bedroom with ensuite, airconditioned living area and a large deck along with a double bay garage.

#16 Sawmill Rd
