Bumper crowd has ball at second day of Fraser Coast Show

The rain came down on the second day of the Fraser Coast Show, but that didn’t stop a bumper crowd from enjoying the rides, displays and entertainment offered throughout the day. PHOTOS, VIDEO

Crowds braved the rain and turned up in droves on the second day of the Fraser Coast Show, jumping on rides, taking in displays and enjoying the sights and sounds of Sideshow Alley.

While Thursday saw a decent turn out, thousands came out to support the show on Friday, with many enjoying a day off from work and taking the opportunity to bring the family to Maryborough Showgrounds.

Show goers brave the highest of rides.

For Mahandra and Ayla-Rae Wright, it was their first time soaking up the fun of the show.

Mum Khiara Wright said they were having a ball and had each picked out two showbags.

Celina, 5, and Sophia, 7, Shrestha arrived at the show as it was starting to rain, but that couldn’t stop them from having fun.

Both girls strapped in and enjoyed the fun of the trampolines.

Meanwhile Charlee Walker and Matilda Webb were checking out the giant pumpkins, with both saying they were “very impressed”.

Joy Duke was a steward at the floral displays, but she was also the champion across all the categories.

She said seeing the ribbon next to her creation was a surprise, but she was very happy.

Ms Duke said she had create something “a little different” this year.

Her granddaughter, Ileisha Moore, is carrying on the tradition.

She won the 7-14 floral art category, claiming the top prize for the third year in a row with her pretty blue creation.

There was plenty to see and do at the show on Friday, with woodworkers giving an insight into their craft, renowned horseman Guy McLean again showing his skills and a rodeo and fireworks planned for Friday night.
