Whether it be a wholesome movie night under the stars, a dance party in an old time hall or a camping trip with friends and family, there is plenty to do around the Western Downs this weekend to close out 2023.

Cocktail night

This Friday evening, the Dalby Leagues Club will host its last pop-up cocktail night of the year.

The cocktail menu has been switched up each month, offering residents a wide range of options and will help kickstart the long weekend and round out 2023.

Find the leagues club on Orpen St in Dalby.

Movie night

The Dalby Leagues Club is hosting an outdoor cinema night on Sunday, New Years Eve from 6.30pm with a showing of Are We There Yet?

Families are invited to bring their blankets and pillows and enjoy the movie under the stars to help end the year.

The field is located at Orpen St in Dalby.

New Years Eve party

A dance party is being held in Boonarga this New Year’s Eve to help close out the year.

Residents are invited to attend the event where there will be ‘non-stop live performances’ from 7.30pm at the Boonarga Hall.

The event is BYO drinks, and include a doughnut stall, ice cream, hot chips and soft drinks.

Tickets are on pre-sale for $10.

Lake Broadwater, Dalby

For an enjoyable landscape not far from Dalby head to Lake Broadwater which takes up 250ha, enough to cater for a large crowd.

The park includes ten powered sites, a camp kitchen with picnic tables, electric barbecue plates and toilet amenities with hot showers.

Lake Broadwater is located at the end of Lake Broadwater Rd.

Tara Lagoon, Tara

Also known to locals as ‘Camel Country’, the lagoon in Tara is a great place to set up camp.

The parkland includes 150m of boardwalk built over the water with a viewing platform and seating.

Residents can find the lagoon behind Tara Showgrounds on Tara Kogan Rd.

Waterloo Plains, Wandoan

Waterloo Plains in an Environmental Park, home to many local birds.

There is more than 30 species of birds around the man-made lake which has been built to preserve the wildlife population in the area.

The campsite also includes spots for RVs, hot showers and new barbecue and picnic tables.

Waterloo Plains can be found behind West St and Lane St.

Caliguel Lagoon, Condamine

All of the essentials for an exciting camping trip are available at the Caliguel Lagoon in Condamine, near Miles.

The lagoon area is equipped with a new camp kitchen, electric barbecue plates and a sink, with a boat ramp and a communal firepit.

Caliguel Lagoon is situated on Condamine Meandarra Rd.

Chinchilla Weir, Chinchilla

The newly upgraded Chinchilla Weir is a great spot for campers to enjoy the outdoors.

Located 10kms south of Chinchilla on the banks of the Condamine River, the site also includes picnic tables and shelters.

The weir is located on the corner of Chinchilla Tara Rd and Avenue Rd.
