A southwest woman has her mother to thank for a massive windfall after she was gifted an Instant-Scratch It ticket purchased from a Darling Downs newsagency. See her story.

A woman who received an Instant-Scratch It gift from her mother has celebrated a massive win after it was purchased from a Darling Downs newsagency.

The Oakey mother, who confessed that she couldn’t contain her excitement, said she was unsure whether she had interpreted the $50,000 scratch-it correctly after it was given to her as a gift for her birthday.

“The first thing I did was dance around the house,” she said.

“This is the most I’ve ever won and I was very shocked.”

The regional Queensland winner said she hadn’t used an Instant Scratch-It in a long time until her mother presented it to her.

“We were actually a bit nervous that we had scratched an additional number and has misread the ticket,” she said.

“I checked the ticket three times and then my husband also checked three times.

“We’ve been so startled by the win that we haven’t had a moment to decide what we’ll do with the prize but I’m sure it will go to good use.”

Oakey Newsagency manager Priyanka Patel said she was excited to hear one of her local customers had picked up the winning prize.

“Oakey is a small community and there’s no doubt that our locals will be thrilled to hear someone from the area has picked up a $50,000 win from their local newsagency,” Ms Patel said.

“We wish them all the best with their prize and thank them for supporting us.”
