The Dalby community has rallied together to show their support for a family of 11 who tragically lost their home in a fire on Sunday.

Nine people, including seven children, were in the structure when the fire broke out about 11.55am on Sunday.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said by the time two fire crews arrived at the Curtis St residence the structure was already well engulfed in flames.

Paramedics assessed nine people, including seven children, at the property, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said, however no one needed to be taken to hospital.

Police established a crime scene at the Dalby property are looking into the cause of the blaze, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

Since the fire there has been an outpouring of support from the community with a GoFundMe so far raising more than $1200.

The residents’ niece Lahnee Hinch, who established the GoFundMe, asked the community for their support during the difficult time.

“A fire started in the backyard of their home and tore through the entire house destroying everything. My aunty, uncle and all eight children were lucky to escape but did so with only the clothes that they were wearing,’ she wrote on the fundraising page.

“The fire ripped through everything in the house and has left them with nothing, not even a pair of shoes.

“We are now seeking help to get them back on their feet. Any donations big or small will be greatly appreciated.”

On Facebook the response has been similar with dozens of comments offering support and donations.

Lizzie Wally Harvey from Dalby’s Helping Hands has offered to donate clothing while Tony’s Kitchen has offered hot meals.

Other locals have reached out willing to donate clothing, beds, cutlery, fridges and freezes, a dining set, toys and more.
