A young man has fronted court after smashing up the windows of his partner’s house with a pram.
Kingsthorpe man Karna Nathaniel Spear, 20, appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday pleading guilty to one count of destruction of property as a domestic violence offence and one count of possession of cannabis.
The court was told police were called to a Dalby property about 9.20pm on December 29 2024 after receiving a phone call from the aggrieved.
When they arrived they found glass strewn throughout the house and the aggrieved told them a heavily intoxicated Spear had picked up a pram and used it to smash a number of windows throughout the house during an argument.
The court was told that for a number of hours Spear had been drinking with his friends at the house he and the victim shared before an argument ensued. It was revealed that Spear had been drinking spirits which he didn’t normally do.
Spear’s lawyer said his client had blacked out and had no memory of the offending.
After speaking to the aggrieved police went looking for Spears who had left the house several hours prior finding him in a nearby park at 11.45pm.
A search of Spear’s pockets revealed 3g of marijuana and he was subsequently arrested.
Spear’s lawyer said his client had been with his partner for five years and they had been doing well since the offending.
He also said he had been staying away from alcohol having only had one beer since.
Magistrate Kathleen Payne warned Spear to stay away from alcohol and to consider the impact the behaviour would have on his young child who was present at the time.
“You smashed every window in the residence in the presence of your child, you have to think about the impact on your child”
For his offending he was fined $800 and no conviction was recorded.
