A Dalby woman with a guilty conscience has returned stolen perfume to a store after she made a “judgment error”.

Hailee Lyne Maree Farquharson, 19, was not present in the Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 16 but sent instructions pleading guilty to the charge of theft.

The court was told at 12.19pm on February 29, Farquharson stole a $135 bottle of perfume from a store before feeling guilty and returning it the following day.

In her instructors to the court Farquharson, who no prior convictions, said she would have “been embarrassed if her daughter had done the same thing”, and decided to return the stolen good.

In her sentencing Magistrate Kathleen Payne said the offending was “completely out of character” and fined Farquharson $100 with no conviction.
