The captain who has lived in Dalby her whole life said it was recent heartbreaking events in Dalby that pushed players to raise funds for a suicide prevention foundation.

“We’ve had a family friend who died by suicide earlier this year,” she said.

“It’s very tragic but we’re trying to get through it and we wanted to show our support to everyone who is dealing with the impact.”

The club’s captain said the devastating loss of young Dalby man Harrison Beil had rocked the community and the club wanted to show whatever support they could for the families and friends directly affected.

“There’s a lot going on and we just wanted to help somehow,” she said.

The under-17s captain despite having to sit out of the game due to injury said she was proud of the players and the girls had their best game yet.

“It was so good to see Valleys and Devils getting among it and playing together,” she said.
