Western Downs to host dozens of Anzac Day events to commemorate Australian and New Zealand soldiers

A number of dawn services, commemorative marches and morning teas will take place across the Western Downs region this Anzac Day. See the full list of events here.

Those looking to honour and remember Australian soldiers past and present will be able to do so this Anzac Day with a number of services running across the Western Downs Region.

From commemorative parades, dawn services and community breakfasts there is something for everyone this Anzac Day.

BELL

The Dawn service will start at 6am at Anzac Memorial Park on Dennis St with a community breakfast following the service at the Bell RSL Club on Ensor St.

BUNYA MOUNTAINS

A commemoration service will be held at 8am opposite National Park Office, Bunya Ave.

CHINCHILLA

The Dawn service will kick off at 6am at the Chinchilla RSL Sub Branch Soldiers Memorial Hall on Heenney Street.

A commemoration march will take place at 10.45am before a service at 11am in the Chinchilla Botanic Parkland.

CONDAMINE

A Dawn Service will take place at 5.45am at the Condamine State School, Kennedy St followed by a community breakfast.

DALBY

The Dawn service will begin at 4.28am at Anzac Park on Patrick St, and a commemoration march will follow at 9.30am along Bell Park, Cunningham and Patrick streets.

DULACCA

A commemoration service will take place at 8.30am at Roy Henderson Park, Warrego Highway.

JANDOWAE

The day will kick off with a 5.30am with a Dawn Service at the Jandowae Memorial Hall followed by a community breakfast.

At 10.30am the commemoration march will leave from the corner of High and Dalby streets before a commemoration service at the Jandowae Memorial Hall at 11am.

There will be drinks and fellowship following the service

KAIMKILLENBUN

A commemoration service will take place at 8.30am Cumkillenbar Park, Isabelle St followed by a free morning tea.

KOGAN

A commemoration march will begin at 9.30am from Kogan Memorial Hall Park, High St leading into a commemoration service at 9.45am. Free morning tea will also be provided.

MEANDARRA

The Dawn Service will start 6am from Sara St followed by a breakfast.

A commemoration march will then run from 10.45am followed by a commemoration service at 11am on Sara St.

A luncheon will then be held at the Meandarra School of Arts Hall on Sara St.

MILES

The Dawn service will kick off 5.45am in Anzac Park, Corbett Drive followed by a march at 11am and a service at 11.15am.

TARA

The Dawn service will take place at 5.30am at the Tara Soldiers Memorial Hall, Fry St followed by a free breakfast.

The commemoration march starts at 10.20am followed by a service at 10.45am.

A community luncheon will also be held at the Tara Soldiers Memorial Hall.

WANDOAN

A Dawn Service will be held at 5.30am in W. O’Sullivan Memorial Park, Henderson Road followed by a community breakfast.

The commemoration march will begin at 10am from Royd St followed by a commemoration service at the Wandoan Cultural Centre, Henderson Road at 10.10am and a morning tea at 11am.

Games of bowls will then be played from 1pm at Sid and Doris Pitkins Memorial Bowls.

Two-up will be played at 5pm at the Juandah Hotel Motel, Lawton St.

WARRA

A commemoration service kicks off at 9am at the Warra Memorial Hall followed by a morning tea.
