THE Western Downs Regional Council and Dalby Pound are calling for anyone in Dalby who would like a furry friend for the new year, or is looking for any pets that may have gotten away over the holidays.

The pound is holding about 30 animals.

The pound holds pets longer over the Christmas holidays and New Year to accommodate for families who may be on holidays or have been missing their pets for some time.

The Western Downs Regional Council is encouraging people to go and purchase a pet from the pound so they can find their forever homes.

"Western Downs Regional Council has some excellent pets available for adoption from their pounds,” they said in a statement.

"We have dogs, cats, pups and kittens available that will all be desexed and temperament checked.”
