DALBY Table Tennis will soon be coming under the microscope. An AGM meeting on January 22 will decide whether the club will be run by the PCYC, or will continue as its own independent club.
The table tennis club has been running for seven years now. President of Dalby Table Tennis, Kim Bremner, says the club has always been open to all ages and abilities.
"We cater for all skills, and levels, and ages. We've had 84-year-old guys playing and we've had 12-year-old kids playing. The beauty of table tennis is that people can play and still be competitive.”
Numbers have been dwindling in the last 18 months and participation rates have taken a dive.
The club used to be run at Dalby Christian School, but refurbishments to the school meant that the club had to relocate to PCYC - an ultimately beneficial move.
Mr Bremner believes that the move to the PCYC will benefit the club on the whole.
"We're really lucky that the PCYC are interested in keeping it going,” Mr Bremner said.
"We've actually got a really good set-up there at the PCYC. We've got our own lockable room, we have a robot set up so people can actually practice, as well as four tables that we use for playing on.”
The decision will be voted on by members of the club, but Mr Bremner is confident that the PCYC will be able to take over the club as has been suggested.
"We'll donate out equipment to them and they will continue to provide table tennis facilities for the area,” Mr Bremner said.
"In the future if things get bigger and better then they'll be able to manage.”
The meeting will be held at 7pm on January 22. Table tennis is held at 6.30pm every Tuesday night at the PCYC.
