K hub Chinchilla set to close for new tenant

Kmart has revealed why one of the company’s smaller format stores will shut its doors in regional Queensland, only three years after it opened.

Chinchilla shoppers will be forced to travel to Dalby for all their Kmart shopping needs after the store announced it would close its doors in June.

The K hub store is being forced to close after being issued a notice to vacate to make room for a new tenant.

“It is with much regret that we confirm that we have been issued a notice to vacate our K hub Chinchilla store, which means that unfortunately K Hub Chinchilla will close June 8, to make way for a new tenant,” a Kmart Spokesperson said.

“We thank the community for their support for Kmart and we hope to continue serving the Chinchilla community through our nearest store in Dalby, as well as online.”

A Kmart spokesman said they would be working with the staff to find re-employment and thanked the community for their support over the years.

“Supporting our team is always our number one priority,” they said.

“We are actively working with our sixteen team members to offer redeployment into other Kmart stores where we can and will also be connecting with the incoming tenant for any vacancies.

“We want to thank the Chinchilla community for their continued support of Kmart.”
