Wesfarmers have released the list of Queensland Target stores to be closed or converted into Kmart outlets

A full list of Queensland target stores that will be closed or converted to Kmarts over the next 12 months has been released.

ALMOST 30 Queensland Target stores will be closed or converted into Kmarts over the next year.

Parent company Wesfarmers announced yesterday up to 167 stores Australia could disappear forever over the next year with up 75 Target stores will be shuttered and 92 others converted into Kmart outlets after a review into the struggling retailer’s operations.

In Queensland there will be 10 mostly country-based stores closed as will as one just over the border at Murwillumbah, while 19 stores will be comverted into Karts.

Wesfarmers told the ASX this morning it had “identified a number of actions to accelerate the growth of Kmart and address the unsustainable financial performance of Target”.

“These actions include the conversion of suitable Target and Target Country stores to Kmart stores, the closure of between 10 to 25 large format Target stores, the closure of the remaining 50 small format Target Country stores, and a significant restructuring of the Target store support office,” the company said.
