Fire crews battled for several hours to bring a house fire under control on the Western Downs overnight.

Five fire crews attended the blaze on Fortune Dr at the Golden Downs Estate in Tara, with crews arriving just after 9pm.

A QFES spokeswoman confirmed the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen, with the house well alight by the time the first crews arrived on scene.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control by 11pm, with all occupants accounted for.

Queensland Ambulance Service also attended and assessed a man at the scene but he declined transport to hospital.

The spokeswoman for QFES was unable to confirm what level of damage the building sustained, however no fire investigation was required.

The last crew left at 2am.
