A Central Highlands man will face court for multiple child exploitation and weapons offences after he was allegedly found with child exploitation material when arrested by police.

A Central Highlands man will face court for multiple child exploitation and weapons offences after he was allegedly found with child exploitation material when arrested by police.

According to police, a search warrant was executed at a property in the Emerald area on November 20 following information received from members of the public.

Police allegedly found two firearms, a rifle and shotgun, at the property.

A 36-year-old man was taken into custody near the property.

Police allege the man was in possession of child exploitation material at the time of his arrest.

Detectives from Emerald Criminal Investigation Branch charged the man with two counts each of unlawful possession of weapons, indecent treatment of children and one count each of authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), possession of child exploitation material, using the internet to procure children, grooming a child under 16 years, and committing public nuisance.

He is due to appear at Emerald Magistrates Court on December 19.
