Twenty-three child care services across the region, including Barcaldine, Blackall and Tambo, will receive funding to provide facilities for more children.

The services across Maranoa have received an additional $5,283,919 through the Federal Coalition Government’s Community Child Care Fund (CCCF) which helps improve access to child care and increase workforce participation in remote, regional and disadvantaged communities.

Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the funding would support vital child care services across the region and help meet the needs of local families.

“This funding will help local child care services improve access to quality care, particularly in more rural and remote parts of Maranoa,” he said.

“It will be good for our local kids, good for our hardworking families and ultimately for our community. It will also have a positive economic benefit by allowing more local parents to get back into work or to take on additional hours if they chose.

“The funds will support services across Maranoa that may need support to keep operating, or to fund capital projects to improve services and increase the number of places available.”

Mr Littleproud said it was critical to support services, especially in regional and remote areas, to ensure more children could attend.

“In some remote areas, there may only be one or two child care services operating, so it is critical we keep these open and help improve and expand facilities so more kids can attend,” he said.

“Congratulations to the successful providers under this latest round of the CCCF, and I thank all childcare centres across Maranoa for their continued commitment to educating our rural and remote children.”

Maranoa received $5.2 million across 23 services in Round 3 of the CCCF grants.

More than 640 child care services around Australia will share in more than $100 million through the latest round of the program.
