A young Mundubbera couple have thanked the support of the Burnett and speedway community who helped raise tens of thousands of dollars after they lost everything in a fire weeks before Christmas.
Beau Pieters and Jessica Dakin-Masters were asleep in their Mundubbera home on December 3, when they awoke to it on fire.
In a desperate bid to save their home they frantically tried to extinguish the blaze.
The couple, who are known for their Facebook page Backyard Speedway Venture, which has more than 26,000 followers, instead quickly got to work shifting the dozen cars parked close to the house.

While family living close by called emergency services, Beau and Jessica did their best to control the blaze. But everything was destroyed.
Fire crews also did what they could, but the blaze was so devastating even insurance assessors chose not to investigate the matter further before approving a payout.
Beau said while the insurance payout would help them rebuild, it did not cover the tens of thousands of dollars they had spent on their “dream shed”.
“About two months ago we built a shed, just finished building it and had a bit of money we’ve been saving up for ages, we kitted it out with brand new tools, a car hoist, tyre changers,” he said.
“I had everything I ever wanted, I finally had my dream shed that I had been working towards for years and there was stuff in that shed we lost.”
As the couple do their best to rise out of the ashes, Beau said they have been “overwhelmed” by the support of their communities, including a GoFundMe and other fundraisers.
“It’s just been overwhelming, the support of our little town, our community which is a community I absolutely love, and I have always loved this town,” he said.
“To see the support come through from out of nowhere, and it’s such hard times too, it’s not times where people have a lot of money floating around.”
A raffle organised by lifelong friend Kerry Beutel hopes to raise $1000 for the couple’s Christmas, with almost every shop in Mundubbera contributing.
While the inferno destroyed most of their possessions, it failed to claim a small part of the couple’s future - an engagement ring Beau had hidden away in the garden shed which was only licked by the fire.
The duo, who have been together for four years, shared their engagement video on December 10, with Beau kneeling among the ashes to show Jess something he had found among the wreckage.
Anyone interested in purchasing a raffle ticket is encouraged to visit Mundubbera, as Mr Beautel said almost every store has a raffle book on the counter.
Those interested in contributing to the GoFundMe can do so here.
