A boy who was flown to hospital after a dangerous incident in which he allegedly jumped onto the bonnet of a moving vehicle is in a stable condition.

The 17-year-old boy was in serious condition after the incident, following the incident at the Kinkuna Bay Fire Break between Bundaberg and Hervey Bay, late Sunday afternoon.

Police said they arrived on scene at 5.37pm after the teenager tried to jump onto the bonnet of a slow-moving Nissan Navara.
After falling off the vehicle, he went underneath it.
A Wide Bay Hospital and Health spokeswoman said the teen is now in a stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle was an 18-year-old male, police said.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the teenage boy suffered significant chest, back, and abdominal injuries.
He was flown to Bundaberg Hospital by the Bundaberg based RACQ Lifeflight helicopter.
Police said the two involved were not under the influence and this act seemed to be one of “misadventure”.

Investigations are ongoing.

The beach has been the scene of a number of serious vehicle-related incidents.

These included a shocking rollover in July 2023 that seriously injured teen Mia Selby.

In December 2023 multiple people faced court after being charged for promoting hooning at the spot.
