Man fighting for life, five others hurt after car hits kangaroo at Monduran

A man has been flown to hospital and five others have been assessed by paramedics after a car hit a kangaroo in the Bundaberg region.

A police spokeswoman said a Hyundai sedan was travelling along the Bruce Highway when it has struck the animal near Monduran Dam Road, about 7.10pm.

There were six people in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

A 20-year-old man has been flown to hospital with ‘life threatening’ neck injuries.

He was flown to Bundaberg Hospital.

The remaining five passengers were taken to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition as a precaution.

The Bruce Highway was reduced to one lane and was expected to be closed for a number of hours.
