A man has been seriously injured and another charged following an alleged stabbing in Gympie.
Police allege an “altercation” occurred between the two men, who are known to each other, at a unit block on Lawrence St about 6.20pm Friday.
The seriously injured man was taken to Gympie hospital before being flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
David George Infante, 49, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.
The Gympie man’s charge was mentioned in Maroochydore Magistrates Court briefly on Saturday and he was remanded in custody until Monday when he will appear in court at Gympie.
The ground-floor flat at the complex, which is just 100m from Gympie Central State School, has been declared a crime scene and remained under police guard on Saturday.
