A Bargara woman who went on a drunken rant at a McDonald’s restaurant faced court on Monday.

Hayley Maree Elizabeth Mitchell, 18, who appeared via phone, pleaded guilty to committing a public nuisance and contravening a police direction.

The Bundaberg Magistrates Court heard Mitchell was out with friends at the Bargara Pub and the Central Hotel before making her way to the McDonalds on Targo Street at 1.40am on January 16, 2022.

Police were called soon after, when Mitchell threatened to kill a worker at the restaurant.

As police were speaking to the witness, Mitchell threatened to kill police and began to swear, telling them to f--- off on two occasions, the court heard.

Police asked Mitchell for her name, but she refused, telling them to “go away”. When they asked again, she told them to f--- off and said it was “none of their business”, the court was told.

She was then arrested and taken to the Bundaberg Watchhouse.

The 18-year-old mother told magistrate Leanne Scoines she was a mother studying a Certificate Three in disability and was “ashamed” of her offending.

“I was really intoxicated that night and I don’t remember saying any of that stuff,” she said.

“I’m ashamed of it, it’s not something I would do. I’m a mother to a nine month old baby. I’m disgusted in myself.”

Ms Scoines told Mitchell she hoped it had been a one-off.

“You were behaving in a way that had police attention, and to bundle you up and take you to the watch house would be a shocking experience for someone who has no history before the court,” she said.

“I hope that it’s given you cause to think about planning your night out a little more carefully. I hope this is a one-off for you.”

Mitchell was fined $250 and no conviction was recorded.
