A former long-time charity worker with Angels Community Group is facing six charges of stealing.

Gail Mary Catherine Mole did not appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where she was represented by lawyer Matt Messenger.

Ms Mole faces six counts of stealing by clerks and servants, relating to her time with the Angels Community Group.

Mr Messenger asked the court for an adjournment for the case.

A hearing-mention date was set for November 1, 2022.

In 2020, the Bundaberg NewsMail ran a story on Ms Mole and her work in the community.

Involved with the Angels Community Group for years, Ms Mole was entrusted with managing the charity’s op shop.

At the time, Ms Mole spoke of the hardships suffered in the community by the region’s poor and poverty-stricken, and explained how desperate women were living in cars near the river.

“This is Australia for God’s sake,” she said at the time.

“We really need to be looking for a solution.”

Around the same time, Ms Mole represented the Angels Community Group at a media opportunity with Burnett MP Stephen Bennett, lending support for a program to provide portable sleep beds for the homeless.

“Dignity is a big thing, and homelessness is a big thing in Bundaberg,” she told media.
