A 30-year old accused of dangerously operating a car leading to grievous bodily harm has fronted a Maryborough court following an alleged hit and run that left the victim with broken bones.

A man has been charged over a hit and run incident in Kalkie which left the victim with significant injuries requiring surgery.
Dean Thomas Roy Burton, 30, appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court facing one charge of dangerously operate a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

Police prosecutor Leon Casey said the incident occurred on Bargara Rd in Kalkie, where a vehicle collided with the victim, Jae Woodward, breaking his knee and elbow, which required surgery.
A police report calling for public assistance following the crash said a red Holden Commodore allegedly collided with the victim about 8.30pm on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
Student’s family revolts against school formal ban
Magistrate John McInnes ordered the prosecution provide a brief of evidence to Mr Burton’s legal representatives and adjourned the matter to a mention hearing in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on September 22.
Mr Burton was released on bail.
