Bundaberg police have issued a heartfelt thanks to the people who helped a woman after her car flipped at Avoca during the heatwave.
According to police reports, the woman’s car hit a parked car at low speed, but due to the grade of the road her car rolled onto its side.
The accident, which occurred on Saturday, January 27, may have had a tragic ending if not for the quick thinking and actions of nearby men and women who rushed to her aid.
“When police arrived on scene, they observed quick-thinking community members preventing the car from rolling further while others were holding open the door on the upper side of the car to allow access to the driver,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

Those involved in assisting police and the driver have been thanked for their efforts, with police noting the crash occurred midday, in the middle of heatwave conditions.
“Their intervention reduced the severity of the crash and workload on emergency services,” a spokesperson said.
