A 27-year-old Bundaberg man has been charged with multiple offences, with police alleging he was the culprit in a shooting on a busy street.

Bustling inner city Takalvan St was sent into a chaos on Tuesday, August 23, with numerous police vehicles, detectives and forensics crews on-site.

Speculation surrounded the incident, with reports of a shot fired.

Those speculations were confirmed almost a week later, when police revealed details of the incident on Monday and a man fronted a Bundaberg court.

According to police, a motorbike crashed into the back of a Nissan ute about 5pm on August 23, while the ute was stopped for a red traffic light on Takalvan St.

Police say the ute driver got out to check for damage and speak to the motorbike rider, who then allegedly produced a handgun and threatened the driver.

The motorbike rider left the scene for a short time before returning and allegedly firing one shot at the driver and then leaving the scene, police said.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, escaped any injury in the incident, and the two men did not know each other, police said.

The motorbike rider was located and arrested on George St in Bundaberg on Friday, August 26, driving a Mitsubishi sedan.
