A man has been charged after allegedly using methamphetamine and lighting a fire in a bathroom at Bundaberg Hospital, prompting a large emergency services response.
Emergency services were called to the Bourbong Street facility around 1.40pm on Thursday, after reports of a disturbance involving a man in a hospital bathroom.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said crews were tasked to ventilate the toilet area, with police and fire vehicles lining the street and more than 10 officers and firefighters on the scene.
A 59-year-old Moore Park Beach man was arrested a short time later and has since been charged with lighting an unauthorised fire, possessing drug utensils, possessing a relevant substance, and failing to properly dispose of a needle.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services confirmed hazmat crews returned to the hospital to ensure no remnants of the drug remained in the area.
The man is expected to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on August 15.
