Don't miss out on the headlines from Bundaberg. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Working full-time as an interstate truck driver, Bundaberg local Kev Harley is used to delivering goods, but his new hobby business is making the standard mail delivery a lot more special.
Sourcing recycled metals and materials to create incredible custom designs Mr Harley makes his own mailboxes that are out of this world.
From miniature replicas of Mack trucks and John Deere tractors to Homer Simpson and frogs, the carefully crafted mailboxes are impressive to say the least.
“I started making some things for my man cave when I wasn’t on the road and now it has led me to start my own Facebook page One of a Kind Metal Art,” Mr Harley said.
“Designs can take a few weeks to complete depending on how long it takes me to find the right pieces and how detailed the mailboxes are.”
The interstate truck driver who delivers sweet potatoes to Adelaide has been creating metal art for about 18 months but he started building custom mailboxes eight months ago.
But the former mechanic’s love for piecing things together has been a lifelong commitment and one that he hopes to explore further.
“Being a mechanic I’ve always had a passion to build things,” Mr Harley said.
“(The mailboxes) have been really popular – I’m always up for a challenge or making custom work.”
