One of Bundaberg‘s most well-known empty blocks of land may have an exciting new future if a development application gets the green light.

On Monday, an application was submitted to Bundaberg Regional Council for a childcare centre to be built on 60 Walker St.

The spot is opposite the busy Southside Central foodworks, also known as Olsen’s Corner.

The development application is a combined application which includes an advertising device.

If approved, the centre would join others in the region which have recently been approved.

One of these is new childcare centre and community meeting hall in North Bundaberg, approved by the council in May last year.

The childcare centre will use the existing site at 96 Hinkler Ave.

Another childcare centre at Bundaberg’s Belle Eden Estate has also been proposed.

The facility would provide space for 150 children and create more than 20 jobs.
