The Wide Bay region including Bundaberg, Fraser Coast and Gympie could be hit with heavy rainfall, damaging winds and hail as another round of stormy weather builds.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Helen Kirkup said Wednesday posed the biggest risk of severe storms forming, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
Storm activity could stretch as far north as Gladstone and as inland as Roma.
The storm risk also came with a strong wind warning for the coast including Fraser Island.
A flood watch for the Wide Bay Burnett is current.
Ms Kirkup said flooding was possible across the Wide Bay, but it would depend entirely on where the rain fell.
But there is good news on the horizon, too.
Ms Kirkup said a cooler air mass would start to move in and conditions would begin to ease from Thursday.
The end of the week will see the return of south easterly winds that should help bring temperatures back down and ease some of the humidity felt across the Wide Bay.
