McGill Group director Mark McGill said the infrastructure projects that the region had been screaming out for had been galvanised by the Olympics win.

“Things like the Bruce Highway, the Mooloolah Interchange, rail, from a regional perspective I think it’s a great outcome for us,” Mr McGill said.

“These key infrastructure projects now have a timeline and end date.

“In the past it was indefinitely, and that what will keep driving the market.”

Mr McGill said blue chip suburbs and anything along the beachfront were traditionally strong value holders.

“Especially single storey, that’s what’s most in demand right now,” he said.

Amber Werchon Property principal Amber Werchon said in the past 12 months the region’s property market had “run away” with no sign of slowing down.

She said large blocks and proximity to water would remain as areas of strong growth when 2032 rolls around.

“Positions close to the beach and sizeable land will continue to have the strongest growth,” Ms Werchon said.

Amber Werchon said proximity to water would always be in demand on the Sunshine Coast.

Ray White Aura principal Paul O’Brien said the prospect of heavy rail being an infrastructure win on the back of the successful bid would trigger growth in suburbs along the line.

“Anywhere along the rail line corridor is going to do well. They’re talking a proposed transit centre in Aura’s city central,” Mr O’Brien said.

“People can jump on at Aura, Beerwah and be in the Brisbane city in an hour.

“By then they will hopefully have some express lines to Brisbane and back for a faster trip.”

Ms Werchon however said not every buyer was keen on having Olympic events in their own backyard.

“Interestingly some of the buyers have indicated that all this infrastructure and business is prompting them to look to move away from the action,” she said.

“They’re thinking that far ahead, some Brisbane buyers think it will be too busy in the lead up time.

“It’s going to create a fair bit of change.”
