A piece of history more than century old nestled in the hills of the Sunshine Coast hinterland is set to go under the hammer in August.

Montville Lake Terrace, stretched across 3.4ha, is a popular luxury guesthouse and wedding venue.

The estate on Western Avenue at Montville was last purchased  in 2009.

The property has stunning views of Lake Baroon, a macadamia orchard and a Queenslander built in 1910.

The owners of the property lovingly restored the old beauty.

Real estate agent Susan Brant said the Queenslander was shifted in sections by truck from Brisbane in late 2009.

“They (the owners) restored it very meticulously to what it is now,” she said.

“It has a magnificent kitchen and dining room with views of Lake Baroon.

“Inside, they’ve get all the traditional features and the big wrap around verandas on two sides plus a Juliet balcony overlooking Baroon Pocket.”

The main home has five bedrooms and four bathrooms over two levels, with a formal lounge and media room.

There are also two cottages on the property, each with two bedrooms and one bathroom and fully fenced yards.

The pool house contains its own slice of history as it was converted from the original macadamia packing building.

Despite the estate’s popularity as a wedding venue and luxury retreat, the property is not being sold as a business.

“The owners have been living in a granny flat on the property renting out the main house as an Airbnb,” Ms Brant said.

“It’s not being sold as a business or Airbnb, only as a residence.”

The auction will be held on site at 11am on August 20.

The property will be open for viewings after August 1 when the final guest bookings are complete.

It has only been on the market for 10 days.

The Brandt and Bernhardt agent said there had already been a huge amount of interest.

“There’s been a lot of local interest as well, more probably than interstate because they can’t get across the border but I imagine that will change,” Ms Brant said.

“We’ve had quite a bit of interest from buyers agents as well.

“We had our first block of inspections on Tuesday, we had six groups through and we’ve probably got a similar amount groups through on Friday.”

The auction will be held on site at 11am on August 20.
