PLANNING is under way to upgrade two notorious intersection on James St to improve traffic flows once the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing opens.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads confirmed to The Chronicle this week that James St would remain a state-controlled road once the $1.6 billion bypass opens.
It paves the way for major upgrades on the notoriously busy James St, with the intersections at Neil St and Hume St listed as priorities.
"We have a planning project under way for a future upgrade to the James and Hume Sts intersection, and the James and Neil Sts intersection," a TMR spokesman said.
"This planning project will be delivered this financial year."
Speculation is growing the TSRC will open in early September, which will remove thousands of vehicles from James St each day.
