For the students of Sacred Heart, it was the perfect end to the year when 16 pupils received awards at the primary school’s official end of year ceremony.
Two students from every year level received an award, along with two additional accolades – the Christian and Spirit awards.
Sacred Heart Primary School Year 5 teacher and assistant principal of religious education Alice Lucas said classroom teachers from each year level nominated recipients each year.
“The awards are for special achievement and recognises the absolute superstar students,” she said.
“We’re all about recognising the efforts of children who have improved, turn up to school every day, ready to give their best or sit with children in the playground who they noticed were sitting alone at lunchtime.
“It’s not all about getting A’s on your report card or top NAPLAN results – it goes far deeper than that.”
Following the award ceremony, the school held an end-of-year mass, presented donations to St Vincent de Paul Society as part of its Christmas appeal and farewelled senior students.
Ms Lucas said the heartfelt graduation ceremony was always bittersweet, with many students attending the school from prep to Year 6.
