I appreciate most of our politicians are complaining that the debate about Australia Day means that they cannot handle more than one thing at a time.
But here we are, now less than five months away from the introduction of a new State Labor tax of 10 cents, and none of the councillors or the state government minsters can tell us what is to happen with our yellow top bins.
Are we being expected to pay the 10 cents state tax on each container and then also pay the council for the recycling service that responsible ratepayers have supported for years?
Do we even know who will oversee PRO?
Where will PRO be domiciled?
Why is PRO, so far, a state secret?
If all the ratepayers were to discontinue using the recycling service provided by the council what is the cost to ratepayers to unwind this contract with JJ Richards?
Surely now that the Australia Day debate is over for another 12 months our councillors and state Premier can provide answers.
