NATURALLY we were watching the inaugural NRLW grand final here in the office.
And I can assure you that it would've been on our "sport TV" even without the presence of Darling Downs products Steph Hancock and Heather Ballinger in the Broncos line-up.
Why? Because, as I have mentioned on numerous occasions, I rate women's sport.
There's no less passion or skill in the women's game.
In fact, I think there's probably more passion in the women's game because they're not getting the big dollars.
They're out there putting their bodies on the line while holding down full-time jobs.
They're putting in the hard yards because they really love the game.
I'm not questioning the loyalty or passion of our male athletes, but I imagine it's a whole lot easier to get out bed and train when that's your only commitment for the day.
There is one thing I would've liked to see done differently yesterday though.
I feel the game would've better served if it were played closer to the Melbourne and Sydney match.
We need to show more people just how good our female athletes are and a "curtain raiser" would've done just that.
It's a start though and that counts for something.
