IT WAS heart-warming to see hundreds of runners and supporters turn out for the 40 For Fortey event yesterday.
Unfortunately as members of the media we see some of the worst aspects of society but we also get to see some of the best.
The massive financial and emotional support for the 40 For Fortey is clearly one of the finer aspects of society I have seen.
The support was so good that organisers were forced to close nominations for the event well in advance of its running.
I feel very strongly about these type of events because they can help create a positive out of negative.
Supporting these type of events allows us to help others by making a few very minor sacrifices of our.
More importantly they keep the memory of special people in our hearts.

This Saturday members of Toowoomba's crossfit communities will 'compete' in the Senior Constable Brett Forte Memorial Challenge - their way of honouring a great friend.
Later this week The Chronicle will preview the event in its sport pages. Sen-constable Forte was a member of CrossFit Toowoomba - training there regularly to ensure he could meet the physical demands of being a police officer.
