After three weeks of bad headaches I woke on December 22, and while having breakfast my whole right arm went numb.
I let my husband know and he drove me to the Toowoomba Hospital thinking maybe I had had a slight stroke or something.
He took me into emergency where I was taken straight in while he went and parked the car. The treatment I received from everyone was truly amazing; I had a scan and they sent the results to a neurosurgeon at the PA Hospital in Brisbane. It turns out I had a subdural haematoma and this was its second bleed.
The neurosurgeon suggested I be flown to PA Hospital in the RACQ Careflight helicopter that afternoon.
I am back home now and slowly recovering but I would like to thank everyone involved for their care, kindness and compassion. What a truly remarkable system we have, the Careflight staff allowed my husband to come with me which was reassuring for both of us.
Thankyou again to the nurses, doctors, x-ray technicians, and support staff when you go up to the helicopter, the pilots, the Careflight doctor and nurse. The treatment I received at the PA in Brisbane was of the same high standards. These people made me feel like I am special and important to them.
