Have to take good with bad when it comes to rain

YESTERDAY’S rain made things a little difficult for The Chronicle sport team but you won’t hear me complaining – too much at least.

YESTERDAY'S rain made things a little difficult for The Chronicle sport team but you won't hear me complaining - too much at least.

We were hoping to report on some good quality local cricket in today's paper but unfortunately the rain washed play out.

You take the good with the bad though and in this case there is a lot more good compared to the bad.

Superficially rain tends to really brighten things up around the Garden City - lending a new lease of life to our numerous parks and gardens.

More importantly it's also welcome relief to our farmers and producers around the region.

At the time of print it wasn't a lot of rain but every little bit counts.

Unfortunately there is some bad as well.

Driving around town I can't understand why so many people refuse to drive to the conditions - ploughing through large bodies of still water like they're not even there and refusing to slow down.

Even worse are the kids (and occasional adults) I see playing in flood and run-off water around town.

I pray I'm not reporting on their injuries or deaths every time I go to work in the rain.
