El Jannah chicken shops to open at Liverpool, Gregory Hills

A famous Lebanese chicken shop chain is turning swanky with a venue akin to a Barangaroo restaurant opening in southwest Sydney. Take a look inside.

An El Jannah chicken shop that wouldn’t look out of place in Barangaroo is opening in Liverpool and will be the famous Lebanese chain’s flagship shop for dining in.

After more than a year of planning the eatery, which is renowned for its charcoal chicken and garlic sauce, the shop will open at Macquarie St on Thursday before its official opening on Saturday.

El Jannah promises Liverpool store to be an exquisite store.

Chief executive officer Brett Houldin said more stores were planned, including at Gregory Hills in December.

“We have an exciting pipeline of new stores to come, in-line with this design, which will continue to grow the brand significantly over the next few years, and the Liverpool store will be the flagship store for this look and feel,’’ he said.

“We are very excited to see this growth come to life and share our delicious food and culture with many more customers.’’

The Granville eatery, which has been open since 1998, recently underwent a refurbishment that includes more space after a wall dividing two dining areas was knocked down.

More of its legendary chooks, tabouleh, chips and aioli are being served across Sydney after an El Jannah opened at Earlwood’s Homer St on October 30 with seating featuring booths and fresh, leafy interiors.

Granville was the original shop to open in 1998, followed by Punchbowl, Blacktown, Penrith, Campbelltown, Newtown, Burwood, Kogarah and Smithfield, where a drive-through opened last year.

Liverpool El Jannah is at 279 Macquarie St and to celebrate the opening, customers will have the chance to eat free at the restaurant for a year as well as the chance to win 500 meals.
