A Territory man allegedly busted with 60 times the commercial haul of cannabis in his car has been raced to hospital ahead of his first court hearing.

Jade Anderson was due to appear before the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday after allegedly being busted with 30kg cannabis in his car during a roadside stop.

But the court was told the 36-year-old had to be taken from the watch house to Royal Darwin Hospital after complaining of chest pains.

After allegedly failing the drug test and testing positive for cannabis and amphetamine use, police searched Anderson’s vehicle.

It is alleged they uncovered 30.4kg of cannabis — more than 60 times the commercial limit.

Anderson was charged with supplying and possessing a commercial quantity of cannabis, being a driver with a prohibited drug in his body, possessing a schedule four substance and possessing property in the commission of an offence.

He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, however his hearing was adjourned to September 15.

Judge Alan Woodcock said since the prisoner was also a patient, it would be better if Anderson joined the hearing via an audio visual link.

NT Police have not confirmed if the incident is being treated as a serious in-custody incident.
