The life of a Toowoomba retiree will never be the same after the lucky resident won a jackpot of $100,000.

Purchasing the winning ticket from Campbells News and Casket on Ruthven St, the Toowoomba man heard the exciting news in one of the most Australian ways imaginable – while working in his backyard.

“I’m outside my house completing some house chores and I noticed I had a missed call from an unknown number,” he said in a statement.

“I let the first phone call ring out and I was close to not answering this one … I’m so glad I decided to answer.

“I think I might have to sit down – my heart is beating outside of my chest.”

The lucky jackpot winner won the $100,000 prize in the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot, as well as a consolation prize valued at $1000, both of which were drawn on Monday.

Prior to the big win, the highest monetary prize the man had won was $40.

He plans to put the cash straight into his superannuation, allowing him to explore new heights in his retirement.

The Toowoomba man plans to celebrate the milestone with a nice dinner.

Campbells News and Casket owner Mark Stevenson congratulated the winner on the exciting announcement.

“It’s wonderful news to start the week and we’re so pleased to hear our newsagency had helped a local resident win an amazing prize of $100,000,” he said.

“We will be celebrating this milestone with all of our customers and there’s no doubt the Toowoomba community will be thrilled to hear we have sold a first prize.”
