Not one to scare easily, Shelly Flook has always been a fan of horror movies and anything supernatural.
And after building her growing collection of Halloween props, she will be opening up her haunted house for the sixth year, this weekend.
Those eager for a scare are advised to enter if they dare, with several different sections to explore, from the torture tent and vampire cave, to the gore chef’s kitchen and real-life fortune teller’s table.
With more than 16 actors scattered across the house, Ms Flook said this year will be her biggest Halloween event yet.
And while a lot of work goes into the scare house’s two-week preparation, the host said being able to make a difference makes it more than worth while.
After previously raising funds for Beyond Blue, this year Ms Flook will donate proceeds to Tony’s Kitchen.
“The thing I love most about it is the joy it brings to the kid’s faces and I love being able to scare the older people too,” Ms Flook said.
“It really touches home when people who have been impacted by the cause I’m raising money, message me to say thank you.”
Toowoomba’s Haunted House is at 48 Bennett St, Kleinton and will be open Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 10pm.
Entry is a gold coin donation which will be donated to Tony’s Kitchen and a fast-tracking option is available for an additional fee.
