Alderly St resident Adam Waterhouse was one of many who prepared a spooky surprise for trick or treaters.

He said his family had decided to decorate their home after enjoying the festive fun when they were children.

He said he felt the tradition of Halloween had been growing each year with local Facebook pages showing the locations of participating houses

“It’s like Christmas time, but without the presents,” Mr Waterhouse said.

The Darling Downs Irish Club hosted its first Halloween event for families in a room at the Irish Club Hotel.

“It was a great success,” Darling Downs Irish Club management committee member Aileen Cater-Steel said.

“We spent several hours decorating (the room), we had bats, ghosts and cobwebs.

“It was great fun, there were plenty of games for the kids and the adults dressed up as well.”
