The Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale has notched a record 2025 sale - with $5.25m at auction for champion Zougotcha.
The three-time Group 1 winning five year old went under the hammer on Tuesday at Bundall’s Magic Millions sales yard, smashing a 2025 record of $4.2 million.
Leading trainer Chris Waller offered Zougotcha for sale after eight wins from 18 starts and $2.6m in prizemoney, with Coolmore Australia’s Tom Magnier making the winning bid. Zougotcha will be booked to Australia’s most expensive stallion Wootton Bassett, which stands for $385,000.
Magic Millions managing director Bowditch said the sale was among $80 million dollars of revenue changing hands over the two-day auction event: “It’s a really exciting day for the industry. This is the culmination in a lot of horses’ careers, some of the most elite racing stock Australia has raced.
“Sellers here are very serious about bringing mares to market to get the most amount of money and the buyers are participating from all over the world. You’ve got buyers from England, Japan just bought a mare, the Americans are playing. The Middle East has shown interest in the sale this year.”
Close to 600 horses have been catalogued for sale.
