Police are investigating after a car crashed into a house on the northern Gold Coast before it was driven from the scene.

Emergency services were called to the Hansford St property at Coombabah just after noon on Wednesday after reports a car had crashed into the house, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

There was significant damage to the house, though fortunately no one was home at the time.

No one was injured in the ordeal.

The male driver of the silver Honda civic later handed himself into police at a local station.

No one has yet been charged and police investigations are ongoing.
