A former reality television contestant facing drug trafficking charges will be staying in custody for the rest of this week after she allegedly breached her bail and was in possession of drugs at the weekend.
Suzi Taylor, 54, whose legal name is Suellen Jan Taylor, had been out on bail while facing a slew of drug trafficking charges but the former Block contestant now has another set of charges before the court.
Taylor went by ‘Suellen Jan Underwood’, the surname she used when she posed for Penthouse magazine’s centrefold in 1991, when the additional charges came before Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Court documents allege Taylor possessed dangerous drugs including methylamphetamine and was in breach of her bail condition on Saturday.
Taylor is also facing one charge of possessing utensils or pipes for use that day and two other breach of bail condition on other dates.
Taylor, who is in custody, did not appear when her matter came before the court on Tuesday.
The duty lawyer told the court that there would not be a bail application that day and Taylor’s regular solicitor Michael Gatenby, from Gatenby Criminal Law, was away.
She said that Mr Gatenby confirmed he could appear for Taylor on Monday, May 12.
Acting Magistrate Sarah Thompson said there were others who could speak to Taylor prior to Mr Gatenby’s return.
“I’m just reluctant to have somebody sit in a watch-house for two days when they don’t necessarily have to,” she said.
Ms Thompson stood the matter down to allow the duty lawyer to contact Mr Gatenby and ask if there were other lawyers or law clerks who could take instructions.
When the matter returned, the duty lawyer confirmed that Gatenby was happy to proceed on Monday, May 12.
Taylor will remain in custody.
She is scheduled to next appear in court for a bail application.
Taylor is known for appearance as a contestant in the renovation reality TV show The Block in 2015.
In addition to her reality stint, Taylor has been employed as a glamour model and claimed work as a “high-class escort”.
