A fire broke out at a Withcott home on Sunday destroying a shed before spreading to the first level of the house.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said two firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion while battling the inferno.
The fire broke out in a large shed which was attached to the Karene Court home on Sunday afternoon, January 22.
A neighbour, Dave Freeman, said everyone at the property managed to get out safely but they did seem to be in shock.
“I just feel sorry for them. They only recently got back on their feet and now they have to deal with this,” he said.
“The fireys, neighbours, and everyone chipped in to help, it was good (to see). We have a good community down here.”
Mr Freeman said the usually quiet neighbourhood had a lot of new homes which were about two years old.
“We were doing our thing on Sunday and then there were a couple of bangs, then three minutes later the fireys rocked up,” he said.
“I came outside and had a look, and the garage and the front of the house was on fire and then it started spreading to the main house.”
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said nine crews were at the scene of the fire, which was under control by 3pm.
The spokeswoman said a shed on the residential street was engulfed in flames when crews arrived which resulted in the roof collapsing.
The spokeswoman said the fire spread from the shed to the first level of the home and an investigation was underway into what caused the blaze.
