The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service issued a smoke warning for the Leslie Dam area near Warwick, as firefighters battle multiple grass fires across the Darling Downs and Southern Downs Region.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said two water bombers were sent out to Jondaryan and Leslie Dam.

The spokeswoman said there was a smoke warning for Leslie Dam Road and warned motorists in the area to drive with caution.

“Stay indoors, and close windows and doors,” she said.

“Reduced air quality may cause health impacts for some people… (and) keep respiratory medication close by.

“If you have a bushfire survival plan, refer to it now.”

The QFES had 11 crews helping to contain the blaze.

The fire was not threatening any property as of 4pm, Saturday 21.

A grass fire also broke out at Bowenville on Moola Road and Tates Road at 3pm.

A grass fire also broke out along the Warrego Highway at Jondaryan about 2pm.

Firefighters were still working to extinguish the fires at 4.30pm.
